Gerard Nus is a fitness coach whose role is to assist Paco De Miguel at Melwood.

Specialising in recovery and re-adaptation, the Spaniard works with both the first team and reserves.

Gerard joined the club in 2007 as part of the community coaching team. After a year running projects at the Academy and working with under-12s, he was asked to join the backroom staff at Melwood.

His qualifications include a sports science degree from Lleida University and a UEFA Pro A coaching licence.

Before moving to Merseyside he worked as a fitness coach for Gimnastic De Tarragona and UE Rapitenca in the Spanish lower leagues. His CV also includes a period as a coaching instructor for the Spanish Football Federation in Tarragona.

"Working here at Melwood is a fantastic opportunity for me," says Gerard, who is eager to keep his boyhood club quiet around West Derby.

"Barcelona was my team but there are some Real Madrid fans here so don't tell anyone."
