Europa League: Round 3
John Wright

Job Title: Kit Man
Date of Birth: 03rd April 1958
Birthplace: Liverpool - England
Nationality: England
Joined: Since 2000

John Wright is responsible for preparing kit for the reserve team during training and matches.

The father of former Reds defender Stephen Wright, John took up the role of masseur at the Academy before moving to Melwood in 2000.

It was only after the arrival of Rafa Benitez in 2004 that his job changed to kit man.

One of John's main tasks these days is to travel around the country with the second string.

He said: "My role includes preparing equipment for training, making sure all the reserves are kitted out correctly and cleaning the boots of first-team players; the reserves do their own.

"Rafa is keen on a distinction between first team and reserves. The first-team players simply get off the coach and go into the stadium, whereas the reserves have to help you carry the kit! It's all part of their learning process."
